TAHLEQUAH, Oklahoma - Sequoyah senior Lorin Hammer will sign a letter
of intent to play basketball at Mercer University, located in Macon, GA,
on April 28.
“I like the campus,” Hammer said. “It was a big, nice campus and I
liked the coach. She knew what she was talking about.”
While at Sequoyah Schools, Hammer was a starter on the three-time state
champion team that also earned the state runner-up title this year. A
multi-sport athlete, Hammer also plays softball and was a fast-pitch
softball All-State player in 2007, all while being concurrently enrolled
at NSU and qualifying for the Gates Millennium Scholarship.
“Coach Nobles helped me get ready for this by pushing me and not letting
me give up,” Hammer said.
Hammer is the third Sequoyah Schools’ student to sign with a Division I
college this school year. Nathan Stanley signed a letter of intent to
play football at the University of Mississippi and Angel Goodrich has
committed to play basketball at the University of Kansas.
Hammer’s signing event will be held on Monday, April 28 at 11 a.m. in
the upper level of The Place Where They Play on the Sequoyah Schools
campus south of Tahlequah.
