TAHLEQUAH, OK - The Cherokee Nation recently contributed
$5,000 to Help In Crisis, Inc., a local non-profit that provides
crisis intervention and support services to individuals in several
communities within Cherokee Nation.
“I am extremely grateful for the support the Cherokee Nation shows us in a lot of ways,” said Deana Frankie, executive director of Help In Crisis, Inc. “This check is just one more way they help us in our efforts to eliminate domestic violence and sexual assault.” The mission of the organization is to eliminate family violence, child abuse and sexual assault through advocacy, education, counseling, support and prevention services. The organization offers services in Adair, Cherokee, Wagoner and Sequoyah counties including a domestic violence shelter, crisis hotline, sexual assault services, child abuse prevention, counseling, supervised visitations, batterer’s interventions, child advocacy and transitional living. “We could not do all the things we are able to do if it wasn’t for the support they [Cherokee Nation] give us,” said Frankie. “We are very grateful for that help.” |
