“We had 90 entries this year, which was almost double what we had last year,” said Rhonda Stanley, event coordinator. “There were approximately 400 visitors to the show and we received many compliments about the event and the quilts from our visitors. Many commented that it was difficult to decide which quilts to vote for because the quality of the quilts was exceptional.” In the Appliqué division, Jean Hager of Tulsa placed first with “Floral Sampler.” Second place was presented to Jane Anderson of Vinita for “Changing Colors” and third place went to Frela Summerlin of Fort Gibson for “Indian Maiden.” Joanne Keith of Woodward placed first in the Baby Quilts division with “Bear’s Alphabet.” Second place went to Nita Justice of Cookson for “Brylee’s Snowball” and Annie Kimble of Bunch placed third for “Turtle Baby Quilt.” In the Machine Pieced/Hand Quilted division, Avis Choate of Marble City received first place for “Watercolor Heart.” Second place was also awarded to Choate for “Granny’s Quilt.” Jan McFarland of Cookson placed third for “Night Sky.” Jane Anderson of Vinita placed first in the Hand Pieced/Hand Quilted category for “A Few Bright Spots.” Second place was presented to Joanne Keith of Woodward for “Sampler” and third place went to Polly Jane Whitekiller of Hulbert for “Wedding Ring.” In the Machine Pieced/Machine Quilted division, Brenda Haxton of Muskogee received first place for “Oklahoma.” Second place was awarded to Joanne Keith of Woodward for “Mariner’s Compass” and LaLana Spears of Broken Arrow placed third for “Lone Star.” In the Miscellaneous division, Brenda Haxton of Muskogee placed first for “Tree Wall Hanging.” Second place was awarded to David Moran of Springdale, Arkansas for “Blooming Nine Patch” and third place was also awarded to Moran for “Dane of the Dragon Flys.” Jane Anderson of Vinita placed first in the Mixed Technique category for “You Name It.” Second place went to Jen Hagus of Tulsa for “Enchanted Autumn” and third place was awarded to Dee Ann Hodges of Gore for “Some Enchanted Evening.” In the Paper Pieced category, Joanne Keith of Woodward placed first for “Amish Trees” and Thresia Eyman and Turta Whitekiller of Oklahoma City placed second for “Star of Knight.” In the Youth Quilting Project division, Shelby Sidell of Park Hill placed first for “Illusion.” Second place was awarded to Alley Wimmer of Park Hill for “Blue Sky and Sunshine.” Paige Warren of Park Hill placed third for “Quilt of Many Colors” and DJ Faulkner of Park Hill also placed third for “Camo Covers.” The Chief’s Choice Award was presented to Polly Jane Whitekiller of Hulbert for “Patches” and Dennis and Kathy Tibbits of Stilwell received the Deputy Chief’s Award for “Log Cabin Variation.” Joanne Keith of Woodward won the People’s Choice Award for “Amish Trees.” “I want to congratulate all of the winners and thank everyone who came out and supported the Quilt Show. I look forward to another successful show next year,” said Stanley.” |
