Tahlequah, OK - Cherokee Nation is currently in the process of submitting an application to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for a Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) grant. A draft of the fiscal year 2010 LIHEAP application is available for public review. During the review process, the public is encouraged to submit either written or verbal comments regarding the developing of the final draft of the Cherokee Nation’s LIHEAP plan. Copies of the draft plan will be available at the Family Assistance Department at the Cherokee Nation W.W. Keeler Complex, located at 17675 S. Muskogee Ave. in Tahlequah, and at Cherokee Nation field offices. Comments will be accepted August 24 through 26, 2009. Persons unable to review the application at one of the tribal offices may request information about the plan by calling 918-453-5346 or 918-453-5327. Comments will be accepted over the phone.
