"Cherokee Nation Flame"
Cherokee Nation’s Emergency Management staff is closely watching an ice storm that is moving into Cherokee Nation’s boundaries. The staff members are working with state, county and city emergency management teams to prepare for possible problems associated with the storm.

Cherokee Nation encourages you to keep safe and prepare. Here are some ideas: make a plan for a safe alternative heat source, emergency food and water, keep blankets or extra warm clothing in your car while traveling, take care of your family, neighbors, livestock and pets. Accidental fire can occur when using an unsafe alternative heat source; a community shelter may be your best solution. Safety Tips

Report power outages in your area to your local electric company. Report road problems to the street department for your county or city (or Oklahoma Department of Transportation). If you would like to report any other ice storm related problems to the Cherokee Nation, call 918-453-5212.

If you are planning on visiting Cherokee Nation during the next few days, please call our main line: 918-453-5000 to make sure offices are open.
