Cherokee Nation encourages you to keep safe and prepare. Here are some ideas: make a plan for a safe alternative heat source, emergency food and water, keep blankets or extra warm clothing in your car while traveling, take care of your family, neighbors, livestock and pets. Accidental fire can occur when using an unsafe alternative heat source; a community shelter may be your best solution. Safety Tips Report power outages in your area to your local electric company. Report road problems to the street department for your county or city (or Oklahoma Department of Transportation).
