It’s time to rev up your engines and get ready for the Cherokee National Holiday Car Show taking place at the Cherokee Casino Tahlequah located south of Tahlequah on U.S. Highway 62. The Holiday Car Show is an official event of the 57th Annual Cherokee National Holiday. The car show kicks off on Sunday, September 6 at 10 a.m., with judging at 1 p.m. and the Winner’s Presentation at 4 p.m. Early bird registration will cost $20 through August 14. The entry fee after that date will be $30. Entries will close at 10 a.m. the day of the show. Entry categories are as follows: Car Classes: Pre 1950 , 1950s and 1960s, 1970s, 1980s; Late Model: 1990s and 2000s; Stock Truck; Modified Truck; Muscle Car through 1972; Muscle Car after 1972; Import and Open Class; Motorcycle Classes; Stock Foreign; Stock Touring; Stock Classic; Modified Foreign; Modified Touring; Modified Classic and Open Class. Trophies will be awarded to the winners in each class, as well as Best Paint, Best Interior, Best Bike and Best in Show. All participants will receive a gift bag. Additionally, the show will feature children’s inflatable attractions, a DJ with music outside during the day and a karaoke contest inside the casino that begins at noon. The Cherokee Casino models will be on hand to pose for pictures. The Cherokee National Holiday has been held since 1953 to commemorate the anniversary of the signing of the 1839 Cherokee Constitution. With its exciting array of entertainment, cultural and athletic events, it has grown into one of the largest festivals in Oklahoma, attracting more than 90,000 visitors from across the world. This year’s theme is E-loh-i nu-s-di-da-nv de-ga-de-la-qua-s-ge-s-di (“I learn from all that I observe”), reflecting the Cherokee Nation’s long held belief in education as a means to uplift individuals and their communities. The 57th Annual Cherokee National Holiday is a smoke-free event.
