REDWOOD VALLEY, CALIFORNIA - The Coyote Valley Band of Pomo Indians and the Coyote Valley Shodakai Casino are hosting their 7th Annual Big Time Celebration July 4-6th. Tribal Chairwoman, Priscilla Hunter issued a public invitation for the community to participate in the event stating "Big Time is our way of celebrating and giving thanks to the Creator for all of the good things that we have received."Big Time kicks off on July 4th with the opening prayer at noon, followed by activities for the children, live music with Last Leg, and a Fourth of July Bar-B-Q prepared by the staff of Angelina’s Café beginning at 12:30p.m. On Saturday, July 5th, the celebration will host a wide variety of children’s activities, Native American Arts & Crafts, traditional dancers, and live music by Mel Smith and Hott Spell Blues Band. Then at 2:00 p.m., Coyote Valley will host their 2nd Annual Tom Ramos Stick Game Tournament, where first place winners will receive a cash prize of $3,000. Saturday evening’s traditional entertainment will consist of a Salmon Feed, performances from Aztec Dancers and the Bear Dancers at dusk. Big Time will continue on through Sunday with children’s activities, native dancers and more live music by the Native band "Red Blood". Sunday afternoon there will be a special celebrity appearance who will arrive early that afternoon to sign autographs and then return that evening to draw the lucky winner of a brand new 2003 Indian Spirit Roadmaster. The celebration will end with an awards ceremony and closing prayer.
This is a clean and sober traditional event, the public is invited to attend, RV’s and campers are welcome, and most of the events are free of charge.
