The Committee for the Career Advancement of Aboriginal Women (CCAAW) is pleased to announce the upcoming Mawiyahtuwok Ehpijik/E'pitewa'i Mawiomi "Reclaiming Our Spirit and Songs" March 12-14, 2004, Delta Fredericton Hotel, Fredericton, NB.This is the third Aboriginal Women's Conference to be organized by CCAAW following the huge success of the previous two conferences for Aboriginal women in the past two years.In keeping with the celebration of our languages and culture, we are calling this event Mawiyahtuwok Ehpijik/E'pitewa'i Mawiomi which simply means "Aboriginal Women's Gathering" in both the Maliseet and Mi'kmaq languages. The theme this year is Reclaiming our Spirit and Songs" as it best describes the goals behind Mawiyahtuwok Ehpijik/E'pitewa'i Mawiomi which are to:
a.. Celebrate and practice our language, culture and values through the sharing of songs, stories, teachings and ceremonies.
b.. Share strategies to find balance in work, family, community and our own needs.
c.. Increase skills, networking opportunities, and awareness in relevant areas, e.g. health, career advancement, professional development, government programs and services.
d.. Renew our energy, focus and just have fun!This gathering will encompass four streams under the above theme, which are:
a.. Culture
b.. Family
c.. Professional Development
d.. HealthCCAAW will be drawing again from some of the best resource people with experience and backgrounds in different fields to deliver sessions.
